Regional Apps Challenges kicked off immediately following the May launch of the SAP Mobile Apps Partner program. The challenge is one of several initiatives of the new program to incentivize SAP partners to build and deliver mobile apps. The North America regional challenge closed at the end of August with more than 49 mobile apps submissions from nearly 23 partners.
"SAP Mobile Apps Partner Challenge is a great opportunity to see how innovation can emerge from the combination of an enterprise-class mobile platform, some top-notch coaching from SAP and, of course, the dream of reaching the millions of mobile users in SAP's installed base," said Joshua Greenbaum, an industry analyst at Enterprise Applications Consulting and a judge of the challenge. "I think this is a valuable program for any partner looking to target SAP mobile users."
Judges scored the apps based on user experience, functionality, innovation, customer appeal and business value. Below are the winning apps of the finalists:
- ExpertIG's myOrders: A mobile app that allows companies to provide their own customers with the ability to track shipments and evaluate the progress of each stage in the sales-order cycle. Users can download the app and track their orders securely, receive notifications and search order status from their mobile devices.
- KloudData's mobile Medical Record (mMR) and mobile Field Service Engineer (mFSE): mMR is an app that mobilizes electronic patient records from any current hospital information system. It connects to back-end systems for clinical information, including hospital information and imaging systems (PACS), and displays the patient's data in a clear and easy-to-read format. mFSE is an app designed to mobilize the entire end-to-end activities for field service engineers working in the medical device industry.
- Linear Logic's Customer Demand Manager (CDM™): A mobile app for sales professionals that connects to the SAP® Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM) application. It allows users to share forecast information with their customers on their mobile devices and input accurate, real-time forecast data back into SAP SCM. This can be done in a customer's office, over a lunch meeting or anywhere convenient.
"The SAP Mobile Apps Partner program further demonstrates our commitment to enterprise mobility and the partner ecosystem. In fact, our goal is to have over 80 percent of mobile apps running on the SAP mobile platform to be contributed by our partners," said Bernd-Uwe Pagel, senior vice president, Platform Ecosystem and eChannels, SAP. "Through this program, we are making it faster and easier for our partners to build and market a rich and diverse set of packaged mobile apps for customers of all sizes, across all industries. Partners are showing tremendous interest, as also witnessed during the Mobile Apps Challenge, and have already developed a wide range of innovative, high-quality apps that bring real value to customers."
The SAP Mobile Apps Partner program offers partners a comprehensive set of enablement tools, benefits and end-to-end support to help them develop, market and sell mobile apps that meet customers' needs. Additionally, the program delivers a cost-effective starter package for development licenses, access to an extensive community of developers and SAP certification of mobile apps, as well as the ability for partners to market and sell their apps via SAP® Store.
