Pelican uses the SAP® BusinessObjects™ Global Trade Services application and the SAP® Best Practices for High Tech [PDF] package in conjunction with its recent deployment of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) application SAP® ERP. The implementation of SAP BusinessObjects Global Trade Services was completed ahead of schedule, and returns were seen almost immediately.
Before, a reliance on manual processes combined with up to 50 line items per order meant that compiling a complete set of documentation for a single order could take as many as five hours. With SAP BusinessObjects Global Trade Services, Pelican can now prepare export documentation 80 percent faster and is able to process twice as many international shipments per day. Moreover, the application is certified for the U.S. Automated Export System (AES) to facilitate electronic communication with customers, meaning that Pelican no longer needs to constantly monitor for changing e-filing requirements. The software even provides notifications of changes, embargos or errors in documentation.
