WALLDORF, Germany, Sept. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced that for the sixth consecutive year it has been ranked the software sector leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes. Based on economic, environmental and social criteria, SAP achieved a total score of 84 percent, showing an eight percent improvement since the 2011 Dow Jones results were announced.

Included in both the World and Europe Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes, SAP increased its scores in all three sustainability areas. For economic, the company moved up to 87 percent from 81 percent in 2011. At 85 percent, environmental saw a 13 percentage point improvement and social rose from 72 to 79 percent in the past year.

SAP has sector-leading scores in 12 of the 21 categories within the three dimensions as well. In the economic dimension, SAP notably improved its scores in supply chain management, from 61 to 81 percent; and IT security, from 57 to 100 percent. In the social dimension, corporate citizenship and philanthropy grew from 52 to 86 percent. For the environmental category, the environmental policy and management system rose from 60 to 80 percent.
