Newmont Announces Supplier of the Year Award Recipients
DENVER, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Newmont Mining Corporation (NYSE: NEM) ("Newmont" or "the Company,") announced the 2010 recipients of its Supplier of the Year Awards last week at its second annual Supplier Summit. The awards recognize Newmont's top regional and global vendors for their contributions toward lasting partnerships, while operating in line with Newmont's values in worker safety, environmental protection and social responsibility.
ConocoPhillips Lubricants was named Newmont Global Supplier of the Year for its collaborative work on product and contracting services, as well as participation in continuous improvement opportunities within Newmont's Nevada operations. With help from ConocoPhillips, Newmont has been successful in implementing a "best-in-class" lubricant pricing model. In addition to process improvements, ConocoPhillips has provided exceptional value through its ongoing technical education and hands-on training program for Newmont's maintenance groups.
The awards program recognizes vendors partnering with Newmont for continuously evolving the supply chain to create a safer workplace, promoting efficiency and creating value. Nominees were evaluated on their operations and products, as well as their commitment to safety, environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

Award recipients at the regional level include:
- Asia Pacific Regional Supplier of the Year — WesTrac Group was selected for its commitment to environmentally conscious work at Newmont's Boddington mine site. The Caterpillar dealer provides construction and mining equipment services and solutions to Newmont in Australia.
- Ghana Regional Supplier of the Year — WBHO Ghana Ltd, a subsidiary of WBHO Construction focuses on civil engineering for Newmont's Ahafo operations and was recognized for over two million hours without a lost time injury since 2006.
- North America Regional Supplier of the Year — Small Mine Development provides underground contracted mining solutions to Newmont's Nevada operations. The company facilitated open dialogue with Newmont and demonstrated flexibility to drive continuous improvement.
- Peru Regional Supplier of the Year — Hitachi Construction Machine Co. Ltd. provides Newmont's Minera Yanacocha a comprehensive maintenance and repair service for machinery operating at the site. HCMA (Peru) S.A.C. was recognized for its commitment to community involvement and social responsibility.
