New York Times bestselling author, former federal prosecutor, and television legal analyst Lis Wiehl to release "Hunting" series
Hunting Charles Manson, the first book in nonfiction thriller series, will chronicle the apprehension and prosecution of the infamous cult leader
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Nelson Books, an imprint of Thomas Nelson, announced today they have signed a deal with former federal prosecutor and New York Times bestselling novelist Lis Wiehl for a major new series of nonfiction thrillers recounting the relentless quest for justice in the aftermath of history's most devastating and sensational crimes.
Leveraging Wiehl's years of experience as a prosecutor, legal analyst, and investigative crime reporter, each book in the Hunting series will offer a page-turning, behind-the-scenes look at the awful crimes and acts of terror perpetrated by some of the world's most iconic villains. Wiehl, author of thirteen novels including Snapshot and Face of Betrayal, will also uncover the remarkable tactics and strategies authorities used to investigate, surveil, track down, apprehend, prosecute, and sentence these highly dangerous criminals.
The first book in the series, Hunting Charles Manson, planned for release in July 2018, will focus on the American cult leader who led what became known as the Manson Family, a quasi-commune that arose in California in the late 1960s.
For Hunting Charles Manson, and future books in the series, Wiehl will draw upon her more than two decades of practice as a prosecutor and journalist (New York Times, NPR, and FOX News) to examine from multiple angles the hunt for and trials of these criminals. She will introduce the reader to new material about these killers and their crimes—material never before uncovered. And she will tell the story of the hunt as only she can.
"My Grandfather was a prosecutor in the Western Frontier and went on to become a well-respected jurist. My father was an FBI agent when I was young and went on to become a prosecutor, so I was always coming home to stories of him chasing the bad guys," said Wiehl. "My thirteen fiction books are based on cases I have either covered or prosecuted. Now I am bringing my breadth of background and experience to this nonfiction series, where I am hunting the bad guys, something I truly believe I was born to do."
"We are thrilled to partner with Lis in this new series that combines a heart-pounding reading experience with deep investigative research and sharp historical analysis," said Webster Younce, associate publisher of Nelson Books. "No one is better positioned by experience and talent than Lis to explore in brilliant storytelling what is civilization's highest calling: the quest for justice."
