The Hoffa-Hall slate won the 2011 IBT International Officer Election by a wide margin in November. The election results were certified on Jan. 6. Hoffa took office in March 1999 and won re-election in 2001 and 2006. Under his stewardship, the Teamsters Union has regained its place as the strongest labor union in North America.
"I look forward to continuing to work with George and Dan," Hoffa said. "They are true champions for working families. We have accomplished so much as a union since 1999, but our work is not done. Workers are under attack in this country and unions are the only ones standing up for people with no voice. With the support of strong leaders like George and Dan and the entire General Executive Board, the Teamsters Union will continue to lead the fight to protect the middle class and the American dream."
Miranda was sworn in as an At-Large International Vice President, a position he has held since 2010. He also serves as Secretary-Treasurer of Local 210 in New York, President of Joint Council 16 in New York, President of the Teamsters Hispanic Caucus, Chairman of the Board of the Teamsters Airline Division and Vice President of the NYC Central Labor Council. He has been a Teamster since 1967.
"I am proud to serve as Vice President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters for another term," Miranda said. "Unions and working families in America are being attacked, but the Teamsters have the power to fight back and win for everyone."
Kane, who was re-elected to Eastern Region International Vice President, is also President of Local 111 in Rahway, N.J., Director of the Labor Research Association and Secretary-Treasurer of the Irish American Labor Coalition. He has been a Teamster since 1962 and a member of the General Executive Board since 2007.
"This is a solid team, each with a record of achievement," Kane said. "I am proud to a part of this General Executive Board and look forward to continuing the fight for working families."
