New York State Comptroller DiNapoli at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP
NEW YORK, May 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli spoke today in a broad-ranging conversation about the office with former New York State Attorney General and Stroock & Stroock & Lavan partner Robert Abrams. The forum was held in New York at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, a national law firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami.
"Comptroller DiNapoli provided our audience today with important information about New York State's fiscal condition, insight into the New York State's Common Retirement Fund's pension decision making, a passionate defense for retention of the Comptroller being the sole Trustee of the pension fund, and ethical reforms relating to pay to play practices," said Mr. Abrams.
The event was the second in a series of one-on-one question-and-answer sessions hosted by Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP and led by Mr. Abrams. The first forum, featuring newly elected New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, was held March 16; upcoming programs are "Politics and Corruption", moderated by Stroock attorneys Joel Cohen and Jerry H. Goldfeder on June 14, and a fall forum moderated by Mr. Abrams on the "Future of New York City".
The event was sponsored by Stroock's Government Relations group, which is comprised of former Prosecutors, Judges, and Government Agency Officials. The practice is led by Mr. Abrams, a former four-term New York State Attorney General who also served as President of the National Association of Attorneys General, Executive Chair of New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's Transition Committee and honorary Co-Chair of Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's Transition Committee. Jerry H. Goldfeder, former Special Counsel to New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, introduced the event.
