State police are saying that a truck hauling 5-gallon plastic bottles of water caught fire after hitting a disabled vehicle on Interstate 87 around 5:45 in the morning between Exit 10 and Exit 11 at the Franklin Street overpass.

Immediately following the crash, all four lanes were closed, though the two left lanes have since reopened. Troopers stated they did not know when the other lanes would reopen and reported that the truck driver suffered only minor injuries. No other major injuries are being reported, but there are major traffic backups and the Thruway Authority is encouraging drivers to take alternate routes.
