New York Magazine and HowAboutWe.com Partner to Provide Date Experiences to New York City Couples
The Magazine's Annual "Sex Issue" Marks Launch with Special 'Best of Summer Dates' Section, Featuring Dates Available Through New Service
NEW YORK, July 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --Today, New York magazine and HowAboutWe.com are expanding their partnership with New York for Two, a service that sends couples on curated date experiences, tailored for two.
For $18 a month, members browse a collection of local date experiences, pick the ones they like, and go. Membership also includes one free date every month, free concierge service to plan customized dates, and access to exclusive rewards like two-for-one movie tickets and discounted car service.
"We're thrilled to take our partnership with HowAboutWe to the next level by extending wonderful dates to couples, and curating the best experiences New York City has to offer," said Michael Silberman, General Manager, Digital Media, at New York Media. "New Yorkers have looked to the magazine to help navigate the city for 45 years, so it's a natural fit for us."
The launch coincides with New York magazine's annual "Sex Issue," which features a special section on the city's best summer date outings, available on New York for Two. Dates with the magazine's stamp of approval:
- For the Flushing Adventurers: Archery lessons, where couples learn the art of splitting apples at the Queens Archery Range.
- For the Kips Bay Comedy Aficionados: Cocktails and comedy, where couples catch New York City's alt-comedy stalwarts (like Janeane Garofalo and Wyatt Cenac) and up-and-comers alike at the Stand.
- For the Lower East Side Avant-Gardists: Late-night dancing, where couples enjoy deluxe grilled cheese and hummus, specialty cocktails and dancing at after-hours hotspot Cafe Dancer.
New York initially partnered with HowAboutWe in 2011, with New York Dating, a dating site that encourages singles to get offline by posting dates they'd like to go on (eg, "How about we...sample the treats at the Hester Street Fair"), connect with people they like, and go out. More than 20,000 New Yorkers have signed up for New York Dating, and have posted more than 28,000 dates on the site.
"For the past two years, New York magazine and HowAboutWe have been helping New Yorkers fall in love. New York for Two helps them stay in love," said Brian Schechter, co-founder and co-CEO of HowAboutWe. "We thought, if we can help singles connect by going on amazing first dates, then we can certainly do the same for couples on their 10th date, 100th date and 50th anniversary."
This marks the first media partnership for HowAboutWe's latest product, HowAboutWe for Couples, currently available in New York and San Francisco, and rolling out to several cities throughout 2013.
The co-branded experience will live inside NYmag.com, with the site's top navigation, making it easy for users to move between its editorial pages, and the unified landing page for New York Dating and New York for Two.
