SAN FRANCISCO, April 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Ticketfly, the technology company reimagining the live event experience, and a subsidiary of Pandora (NYSE: P), announced today that Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge, two leading New York City music venues, are the latest to join the Ticketfly platform, cementing Ticketfly's leadership position among top music clubs across North America.
The legendary Bowery Ballroom has been a perennial favorite among artists and fans since its founding nearly twenty years ago. In 2013, Rolling Stone named it the #1 Club in America. The more intimate Mercury Lounge has long been known as an indie rock tastemaker, credited with breaking The Strokes, among other now-famous acts. Both venues are owned by influential music industry veteran Michael Swier, also a co-founder of esteemed concert promoter The Bowery Presents.
"Ticketfly has impressed me for many years," said Michael Swier. "Their constant pursuit of identifying better ways to sell and purchase tickets is stunning, and their platform is incredibly user-friendly for my staff as well as the fans. Plus, I love Ticketfly's indie sensibility; it's a great match for Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge's place in this world, and moving forward in tandem will be effortless."
Ticketfly continues to see major momentum as a subsidiary of Pandora, the go-to music source for fans and artists. Every month, nearly 80 million users spend an average of over 22 hours listening to Pandora. The combined Ticketfly and Pandora will use its trove of data to inform concert recommendations for fans and talent buying decisions for promoters. Together, Ticketfly and Pandora aim to change the future of live events by making both discovery and purchase so seamless that fans never miss a show they love, and artists and promoters leave fewer tickets unsold.
As part of the Pandora-Ticketfly marketing program, tickets to events at Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge will be surfaced on Pandora to listeners in the New York area who have expressed interest in acts scheduled to appear at the venues. Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge custom stations featuring upcoming acts are available to stream on Pandora starting today.
"Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge are two of the best clubs in the country. I am thrilled to welcome them to the Ticketfly family," said Andrew Dreskin, co-founder and CEO of Ticketfly. "This is a great illustration of how the Pandora-Ticketfly combination is changing the live events landscape. The ability to reach a massive audience with laser precision is resonating with venues and promoters everywhere."
Tim Westergren, founder and CEO of Pandora adds, "Every artist knows the Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge are sacred ground. But what makes or breaks any live show is the connection between artist and fans. This is precisely why we're changing the game. For every artist walking on stage, we'll help pack that room with fans who love their music."
Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge join the almost 200 other venues and promoters across North America that have chosen to switch from Ticketmaster to Ticketfly. Ticketfly works with more of the U.S.'s top independent clubs than any other provider, and has established a major presence in the New York market, one of the most important music markets in the world. The company's New York clients include Central Park SummerStage, Forest Hills Stadium, The Capitol Theatre, Birdland, Output, Baby's All Right, Brooklyn Bowl, and many more.
Tickets to both venues go on sale with Ticketfly starting Sunday, May 1st on ticketfly.com.
