The New York City DEP manages the water supply for nine million residents in and around New York City. The Elster AMCO C700 is an oscillating piston type water meter with an advanced positive displacement design. The meters will be implemented into the New York City DEP infrastructure, which supports the efficient and safe delivery of approximately one billion gallons of water daily.
The C700 water meters feature a grooved piston design that creates a field-tested "turbulence seal™," using the water flow to create turbulence to prevent water from bypassing the piston for improved measurement accuracy. The Elster AMCO C700 meters, which were developed with customer input, exceed American Water Works Association (AWWA) standards while providing efficient and effective service and accurate billing to the utility.
"This contract represents the latest expansion of Elster's long-standing relationship with the New York City DEP, attesting to the reliability and accuracy of Elster AMCO water meters," said Jerry Lauzze, executive vice president of Elster's global water business. "We continue to meet the utility's high standards of quality and performance, and look forward to working with the New York City DEP on modernizing its water infrastructure."
With the ability to be easily converted with pulse generators, encoders or transmitting registers for remote, electronic or automatic meter reading, the versatility of the Elster AMCO C700 make the meters an ideal investment for water utilities of all sizes. The C700 enables utilities to increase revenue, prolong meter life and reduce maintenance costs.
