New York City Public Health Laboratory Awards Contract to WorkingBuildings
ATLANTA, Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- After an exhaustive six-month evaluation, the New York City Department of Health awarded The WorkingBuildings Companies a five-year contract to provide comprehensive support and operational services for one of the nation's premiere public health laboratories.
Established in 1892, the Public Health Laboratory was the world's first Municipal Bacteriological Laboratory. In the century since its first campaign to control diphtheria in New York City, the bureau has expanded to provide a wide variety of clinical and environmental laboratory testing services. Today, the Public Health Laboratory performs over 2 million tests on the more than 400,000 specimens it receives each year.
According to Michael L. Weiss, President and CEO of WorkingBuildings, "We have been providing New York City Public Health Laboratory ad hoc services over the last few years. The award of this multi-year contract is a testament to the outstanding level of service we have provided and the fiscal prudence with which we have introduced innovative programs that ensure compliance and safety of the building occupants and the outside community. This is a win for New York City Public Health Laboratory, the community at large, and WorkingBuildings."
The New York City Public Health Laboratory joins a prominent list of public health laboratories, research institutions, and translational academic healthcare centers that have engaged WorkingBuildings for professional services, operations and compliance.
