New York City Becomes Center Stage for Antique Dolls

NEW YORK, Nov. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- In a city known more for auctions of impressionist paintings, contemporary art and other genres considered long at the forefront of "fine art," it is a bit unusual to see antique dolls in the pecking order of wants amidst fashionable New York. The event will take place at the legendary Waldorf-Astoria Hotel over the weekend of November 20 and 21.

The collection being offered is that of legendary American collector Nikki Kvitka, who for decades amassed a tremendous blend of rare 19th century French bebes, German character dolls produced during the art-reform movement of the early 20th century, and exceptional couture doll costumes and accessories from Paris design houses. Over 500 rare and exceptional pieces will be sold in the two-day auction that will feature many items expected to reach in the tens of thousands of dollars.
