New York Auto Show Concept Cars: The Future Starts Here
NEW YORK, April 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- With an awe-inspiring combination of new design ideas and technological innovation, this year's concept cars at the New York International Automobile Show reveal what's to come in the automotive world.
The Auto Show opens to the public on Friday, April 18th through April 27th at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. The future starts here…
Kia GT-4 Stinger
Hearkening back to the glory days of purebred, affordable sports cars, Kia's GT-4 Stinger is a 2+2 sports car powered by a 315 turbocharged horsepower and six-speed manual transmission. Beneath the low wedge of the GT4 Stinger's hood resides a tuned version of Kia's proven 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline direct injected (T-GDI) four-cylinder engine putting out an impressive 315 horsepower.
Cadillac Elmiraj Concept
The Elmiraj Concept is a modern two-door grand coupe with a combination of streamlined design and engaging rear-wheel drive performance. At 205 inches in overall length, it is a four-seat coupe with presence and poise. Elmiraj is powered by a 4.5-liter twin turbocharged V8 delivering an estimated 500 hp. The engine takes the baseline technology from the new Cadillac Twin Turbo V6 featured in the upcoming 420-hp 2014 CTS Vsport edition, and expands it to the classic performance format of a V8 engine.
Nissan Sport Sedan Concept
The 4-door, five passenger Nissan Sport Sedan is a low, wide, and sleek concept vehicle that stands on custom 21-inch aluminum-alloy wheels that are pushed out to the corners. Next-generation Nissan design cues like a "floating" roof, V-Motion front end, and rakish boomerang-shaped headlights and taillights give it an air of openness and motion rarely found in a sedan. The concept comes with a front-wheel-drive layout and is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 putting out in excess of 300 horsepower.
Ford Edge Concept
The sleek Edge Concept combines a sleek exterior design that communicates confidence and capability with advanced technology that will define the next Edge production vehicle. It is packed with advanced automated driving technologies including self-parking and obstacle avoidance systems as well as semi- and fully autonomous driving options.
Toyota FT-1: First devised by Calty Design Research in the Sony PlayStation Gran Turismo game environment, the FT-1 Concept has a perfectly balanced front-engine, rear wheel-drive layout that is powered by a high-technology, high performance internal combustion engine. It has design elements that help create the classic sports car proportions including the cockpits wraparound windshield and side glass openings that give it a distinct nod to the design of the legendary Toyota 2000GT.
