New World Home's Atlanta Project Wins National Green Building Award
RALEIGH, N.C., May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Monday evening awarded New World Home "NOGM 4 Atlanta" with a National Green Building Award for Project of the Year – Single Family – Production/Luxury. The home, located in Atlanta, GA, and its builders were honored at the 12th Annual NAHB National Green Building Conference in Raleigh, NC.
"This home is a great example of a high-end, well-built green home," said Eric Borsting, chair of the NAHB Green Building Subcommittee. "This should be an example for other builders to look to when constructing energy-efficient and earth-friendly housing in their own communities."
New World Home's trademarked New Old Green Modular® (NOGM®) design platform incorporates a holistic approach to historically inspired green building. The NOGM process results in homes built to exacting standards, providing a minimum 50 percent energy savings annually, conserves thousands of gallons of water per year and provides a healthier indoor environment when compared to a code built home. A NOGM is able to achieve the highest levels of certification by utilizing a whole-systems approach to home construction. Well thought out design, a strong project team, appropriate material selection and various construction techniques are all contributing factors.
The NAHB National Green Building award is the latest in a string of achievements for New World Home. In 2009, "NOGM 4 Atlanta" was awarded LEED® for Homes Platinum certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for outstanding achievement in green homebuilding and it earned this distinction without the need for any renewable energy sources such as solar panels, wind turbines or geothermal systems. The project also earned EarthCraft Gold and NAHB Gold certifications in addition to the 2010 NAHB Energy Value Housing Award (EVHA) in the Factory-Built category at the International Builders Show earlier this year.
"We are honored that the NAHB has recognized 'NOGM 4 Atlanta' as a project that reflects the very best in advanced homebuilding and green design," says Michael Natbony, New World Home chief operating officer.
"We have received a tremendous response from homeowners, developers and industry colleagues who value sustainable living and support our goal of creating homes with a lasting green legacy. Our NOGM housing solution clearly demonstrates living in a green home that is architecturally respectful is not only possible, but also accessible to a wide audience of homeowners," added Tyler Schmetterer, New World Home chief marketing officer and founder.
