Your Child of Michigan, a coalition of education groups, civic leaders and family organizations, is launching a new web engagement tool for teens in southeast Michigan: www.ItsMILife.com.
Designed to help foster a culture of education in Michigan, this initiative is a response to survey results in which local teens said they lacked the information they need to make decisions about college, and asked for additional online resources.
The development of the site is funded by a U.S. Department of Labor WIRED grant through the Detroit Regional Chamber. The national WIRED initiative stresses the critical role that talent development plays in creating effective regional economic development strategies.
ItsMILife.com will host an informational public launch event at the Detroit Regional Chamber offices on Monday, April 19 at 10 a.m.
Members of the media, educational community, students and the general public are invited. Project spokespersons include Your Child Director Margaret Trimer-Hartley, ItsMILife student bloggers and members of the Web design team.
