LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill., Nov. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul adaptive reuse practices are in full swing with the acquisition and remodel of U-Haul Moving & Storage of Lincolnshire at 200 Industrial Drive.
The new store, which opened in May after U-Haul closed on the property March 10, sits on 11.48 acres and has a building that previously housed a demolition company and a tire and car repair business.
Local leaders of the northern Chicago suburb are pleased to welcome U-Haul as the neighborhood's newest addition.
"The clean-up U-Haul initiated on its site helped transform an 11.5-acre industrial site, which had been neglected for much of its 35-plus year life," Lincolnshire Mayor Liz Brandt said. "The Village truly values partners like U-Haul who provide a much-needed service, while investing in communities."
U-Haul Moving & Storage of Lincolnshire currently has truck and trailer rentals, moving supplies, hitches, U-Box portable moving and self-storage containers, and outside rental space for RVs, boats and trailers available.
The first phase of construction is projected to be done by May 2016, offering customers access to indoor and outdoor storage units with climate-control availability and 24-hour access. Phase two will begin after that to construct additional storage space.
"I'm excited about making this a large facility to accommodate needed storage in the area and rental needs," general manager Carey Levy said. "I'm a 12-year resident of the area and feel as though I'm not only helping serve and accommodate my new customers, but my neighbors as well."
The acquisition of the Lincolnshire facility was driven by U-Haul Company's Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul® supports infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings.
