IMPROVED! User Interface
TuneUp Utilities™ 2014 comes with an updated, cleaner User Interface, which helps users solve PC issues with just a few clicks. The streamlined Dashboard provides instant access to 35 power tools and the "Optimization Status" guides users quickly through the essential steps for performance, troubleshooting and cleaning steps.
NEW! Enhanced Disk Cleaner
In the day and age of SSD drives and an increasing amount of data being stored on our devices, it's vital to have an eye on available disk space. TuneUp is happy to announce that with version 2014, Disk Cleaner now removes leftover data from over 155 applications, now including popular applications such as iTunes®, Ultra ISO, Cyberlink® PowerDVD 13, FL Studio 10, Minitool ® Partition Manager 7.8, and the popular Opera® browser. This data is not only taking up precious disk space, but can also lead to reliability issues. Leftover data includes:
- Log files, for example, that iTunes® generates automatically when users plug-in and sync their iPhone® or iPad®.
- Old Crash Reports that are stored on users PCs such as iOS crash reports created by iTunes®.
- Icon Cache: Cache files that applications generate to display thumbnails, such as the Opera browser.
- Cache files: Temporary data that's needed for applications while they're running but often-times forget to delete later. Among others, TuneUp Disk Cleaner now cleans up these cache files in Cyberlink® PowerDVD 13.
NEW! Automatic Cleaning Updates
TuneUp Utilities™ 2014 updates your cleaning tools continuously, including Disk Cleaner and Browser Cleaner, to support even more programs over time. Once an update is available, users get a pop-up notification and can install the Disk Cleaner and Browser Cleaner enhancements in just a few steps.
NEW! Duplicate Finder
Over time, unnecessary duplicate files can accumulate on users' hard disks, such as downloads, pictures, music or other files that were accidentally saved twice. Duplicate Finder helps find this redundant data and allows users to get rid of it easily. Categories, such as "Pictures," "Music," and "Documents," and previews help users spot the file they want to keep – and the duplicates they no longer need.
NEW! Flight Mode
TuneUp Utilities™ 2014 also introduces an all-new Flight Mode that helps laptop and tablet users increase battery life by turning off power-sapping Bluetooth™ and Wi-Fi™ radios and services. Combined with power-saving Economy Mode, Flight Mode can increase battery life by up to 49% when watching movies on a Windows® 8 tablet in TuneUp's internal performance labs. For example, when running the professional-grade Futuremark PowerMark® battery life tool to simulate office work and gaming, a 2011-era Core i7 laptop lasted up to 43% longer. All test results will be made available in September on http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/speed/.
