New Tool Assesses and Enhances Productivity of Executive Teams
NEW YORK, March 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --
Assessment specialist cut-e has launched a new online survey tool which measures the productivity and effectiveness of senior management teams, against international benchmarks, and provides concrete suggestions for improvement.
Called effect, the tool was created in partnership with Professor Henning Bang of the University of Oslo in Norway, who has developed a comprehensive model of management team effectiveness after undertaking a groundbreaking 36-year research study.
"Studies show that 40 percent of the time that executives spend in meetings is unproductive," said Dr Marinus van Driel, Director of Professional Services for cut-e US. "When management teams making important business decisions are ineffective, business outcomes tend to be sub-optimal. Professor Bang's research identifies the characteristics of effective management teams and it explains the factors that influence and predict high performance. Using his findings, we've created a diagnostic tool that makes it quick and easy for senior managers to self-assess how well their team works together and gain added value for themselves and their organization. Having a more collaborative and productive senior leadership team can help any business to make better decisions, increase performance and achieve its goals."
effect is a 20-30 minute online questionnaire which asks each member of a senior team to evaluate the team's performance, strengths and development areas. The questionnaire focuses on assessing whether the team's composition, purpose and management of information is aligned with its processes and desired outcomes. It asks about whether the team adds value; how the team functions; the dynamics of the relationships between the team members; whether the attendees build on each other's ideas and whether the needs of individuals and the business are met.
The results are then benchmarked against an international norm group that comprises over 200 executive teams. Recommendations are provided on how the team, and each individual team member, can improve productivity via a 'profile report' that summarizes each person's input.
"This is the only team diagnostic tool that is benchmarked against best practice," said Dr van Driel. "You can therefore compare your performance in meetings against other executive teams and find out how to improve the efficiency and productivity of your team. As well as directly benefiting leadership teams, the tool will benefit consultants who want to help senior teams enhance their effectiveness."
