New Survey Reveals More Than Half Of Americans Feel The Afternoon Energy Crash
California Almonds Teams Up with RDN Dawn Jackson Blatner to Help Consumers Combat the Afternoon Crash with Tips on How to Seize the Afternoon
MODESTO, Calif., Dec. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- At 2:58 p.m., on average, people across the country are experiencing an afternoon energy crash that elicits everything from naps to distractions, like browsing social media and playing video games. The recent nationwide study1, conducted online in fall 2016 by GfK's KnowledgePanel®, shows that even with proper meal prep and planning, over half of Americans have an afternoon crash at least once a week.
The afternoon energy crash can lead to poor decision making later in the day, including an unhealthy dinner or skipping the gym. To help consumers avoid these pitfalls, California Almonds has teamed up with top Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Dawn Jackson Blatner to share easy ways to #CarpePM and seize the afternoon.
"No matter how busy you are or what your job entails, across the nation at about 2:58 p.m., people are facing the afternoon crash," said Dawn. "To combat the energy dip, I always recommend a smart and easy snack like a handful of healthy almonds – their fiber, protein and good fat can help anyone seize their afternoon!"
Americans reported how they feel during the afternoon crash, with top responses including drowsy (66 percent), less productive (48 percent) and worn out (43 percent). However, doing simple activities, such as a walking meeting, light and easy yoga stretches, or grabbing for a smart snack like almonds can help to power through this lull in the day and put your best self forward in everything you do.
Survey respondents who did combat their afternoon crash with a snack reported getting an energy boost (57 percent) and satisfying their hunger/craving (39 percent), proving that a little snack in the afternoon can have a positive ripple effect for the rest of the day.
