New Survey Research of 30 MCOs Released by AllazoHealth: Addresses Current Trends In Medication Adherence Intervention Programs
NEW YORK, Aug. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AllazoHealth has released a two-part survey research that outlines the current trends in Managed Care Organization (MCO) medication adherence intervention programs. Part one of the survey describes MCO patient and intervention targeting techniques, and part two describes MCO intervention techniques.
Medication adherence is a critical issue as non-adherent patients incur significantly higher medical costs and experience a dramatically lower quality of life. To combat this growing problem, Managed Care Organizations have implemented medication adherence programs to help improve patient outcomes.
The survey was conducted in the spring of 2014 involving some 30 MCOs. Each MCO was interviewed by virtue of a questionnaire consisting of multiple choice and open-ended questions. MCOs were asked questions regarding existing medication adherence programs; current interventions; efficacy of existing interventions; and selection processes for patient interventions.
In part one of the survey, MCOs describe the process of selecting which patients will be involved in interventions and when these patients are subject to the interventions. MCOs also discuss whether they plan on expanding their current programs to incorporate more enhanced predictive analytics platforms.
In part two of the survey, MCOs describe which intervention techniques they use and how they are performed. MCOs also rate current programs and identify key areas for improvement.
AllazoHealth CEO and co-author Clifford Jones said, "We are very excited to release this survey research and educate readers on the current landscape of MCO medication adherence intervention programs. We believe these results will encourage MCOs to improve their current programs and identify the need for more enhanced predictive analytics platforms."
