PEMBROKE, Mass., June 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its ongoing series of original, proprietary research, ConsumerMedical, a leading health care decision support and concierge company, has published results of another new survey of American workers employed at mid and large size companies that taps into those workers' true beliefs about healthcare. This research, the fourth in a series, was based on a survey of 1,000 employees at companies across the U.S. with 500 to 10,000+ employees, and revealed many interesting paradoxes.
Among the findings:
- Seventy-five percent of employees believe their own doctor is highly skilled, though 59 percent believe that many other doctors are not;
- 2 out of 3 employees say that getting in touch with their doctor is easy, yet 43 percent believe their doctors doesn't spend enough time with them;
- Forty-five percent of employees would seek a second opinion if they felt it necessary, but 59 percent simply don't know where to turn to get one;
- Twenty-five percent of employees would ask their health insurer for help after receiving a serious diagnosis, while 33 percent just don't trust their insurer's recommendations.
"These findings are not surprising," explains David Hines, CEO of ConsumerMedical. "Given the complexity of today's healthcare and the uneven playing field when it comes to knowledge of how to negotiate the system, it's no wonder employees feel conflicted and confused. We're just pleased to be able to do our part to help consumers identify sources of quality healthcare and obtain the care that's right for them."
