New Study Under Way to Ascertain Medical Education Trends in the Medical Device Sector
CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Oct. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Physicians need to be trained in the safe and effective use of new medical devices, particularly in the surgical field. Healthcare companies that manufacture medical devices devote significant planning and resources to their Medical Education function. In the current environment, medical device education groups are trying to add new programs and increase their effectiveness while holding down costs and keeping pace with technology.
To help companies successfully train and educate physicians, research and consulting firm Best Practices, LLC has conducted several field research studies. Most recently, "Professional Medical Education Excellence: Structures, Resources, Services & Performance Levels to Optimize", found that 50 percent of device participants indicated field-based Medical Education staffing will increase 10 percent or more in the coming two years.
In addition, Best Practices, LLC research has found the device sector is spending millions to incorporate iPads/tablets into education because the technology is a good fit for the animations and simulations that facilitate device training.
Best Practices recently launched a new Medical Education study that focuses on the Medical Education programs, delivery platforms and funding.
Key study topics for the new research, which has already engaged many medical device leaders, include:
- Investment levels and funding sources
- Collaborative and multi-disciplinary approaches
- Value and effectiveness of Medical Education formats
- Changing trends and directions
This latest study offers a new benchmark opportunity for Medical Education executives throughout the medical device sector. The research will complement the metrics and insights from Best Practices' previous research, equipping executives with the critical data needed to make informed decisions.
There is no cost to participate, and all benchmark participants will receive the complete, blinded research results and analysis for free. This study will generate comparative metrics and executive insights that participants can use in the future to help assess medical education funding levels, program types and delivery channels.
