New Riverwalk Water Trolley Schedule Fills Afternoon Service Gap
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Jan. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The hours of operation for Fort Lauderdale's free Riverwalk Water Trolley have changed to Sunday – Wednesday 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Thursday – Saturday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., in order to serve more morning and afternoon riders.
The Fort Lauderdale City Commission voted unanimously to modify the Riverwalk Trolley hours at the City Commission meeting on Tuesday, December 19, 2017.
"Data that we have collected over the past few years shows that the new hours of operation will better serve our riders," said Robyn Chiarelli, Executive Director of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale Transportation Management Association, which administers operations of the Riverwalk Water Trolley. "The Riverwalk Water Trolley has certainly become a local favorite, providing service for locals as well as those who are vacationing here, and we want to continuously improve the service so it stays that way!"
The Riverwalk Water Trolley serves approximately 10,000 passengers per month by providing free rides across the New River. The Water Trolley stops at eight different points along the New River: Esplanade Park, Riverfront Plaza, Huizenga Plaza, Laura Ward Riverwalk Plaza, Smoker Park, South Andrews Business District East, South Andrews Business District West, and Tarpon River. To ride the Riverwalk Water Trolley, wait at one of the eight designated stops and a vessel will come by to pick you up.
