New Research Shows Hair Growth Possible In Those With Severe Baldness And Botched Hair Surgery Results Using Novel UGraft® Body Hair Transplant - BHT
LOS ANGELES, June 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In the largest study of its kind reported to date, Sanusi Umar, MD, FAAD, FASDS, used transplanted body hair to restore hair in balding scalps, repair prior surgery scars, and fixed botched hair surgery outcomes in 122 patients over a 7-year period from 2005-2012. These findings were published on May 30, 2016 in Aesthetic Surgery Journal, a well-respected, peer-reviewed international journal focusing on scientific developments and clinical techniques in aesthetic surgery. Hair from the beard, trunk, extremities, and neck was used to restore a natural looking head of hair to 122 patients who did not have an adequate supply of traditional scalp donor hair, using the patented UGraft® system designed by Dr. Umar.
The patented UGraft® system is minimally invasive and able to harvest more hair follicles than traditional robotic or strip surgery in part due to the unique design of the tool, which provides for a more gentle and efficient extraction of hair follicles. The study determined that use of body hair for scalp transplantation using the UGraft and standardized protocols described by Dr. Umar can be an effective hair transplantation method for a select patient population of individuals who suffer from severe baldness or inadequate scalp donor sources, and who have adequate body hair. At this time, UGraft is only available at Dr U Hair and Skin Clinics.
