New Report Focuses on Security Issues at Allentown School District
ALLENTOWN, Pa., Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A new report commissioned by Security Professionals of America has been submitted to the Allentown Board of School Directors which outlines the dangers of outsourcing security teams.
The report entitled "The Benefits of Propriety School Security Operations" was designed by SERAPH's U.S. Senate – U.S. Department of Education School Safety Research Team.
"The report examines the issues faced by school districts' using security guards for emergency management and daily security management," states SERAPH CEO Dale Yeager. "The issue is whether to use an outside company or use internal security teams to manage a school."
The report details many complicated issues in using security guards:
- Their understanding of Federal Special Education law [IDEA].
- Their understanding of Pennsylvania Special Education laws.
- Their understanding of LEA [local education agency] minimum standards.
- Federal and State Emergency management procedures.
"The SERAPH report provides a detailed understanding with source material of the issue, states SPOA President Gordon Crowell. We are impressed by its honest look at an issue that affects the health of the students and staff of Allentown School District."
The report is available upon request to Press and Media.
