New Rail Terminal to Bolster Delaware Basin Oil Industry, Local Jobs
JAL, N.M., Sept. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/-- CIG Logistics, an industry-leading oil and gas logistics provider, has opened a new rail terminal in Jal, N.M., to reduce transportation, transloading and storage costs for oil producers operating in the Delaware Basin.
As the sixth terminal in CIG Logistics' network, the large-scale Jal terminal includes more than 550 rail car spots and 12,000 tons of silo storage capacity. The facility is optimally designed and located to help oil producers decrease distance from rail terminal to well head, improve efficiencies and decrease total operational costs.
"While the oil industry meets market challenges, efficient supply chain operations will be absolutely critical for oil and gas companies to sustain and grow their business," said CIG Logistics Vice President of Business Development Michael Collins "Our new Jal rail terminal will help oil companies in the Delaware Basin significantly reduce their frac sand transportation and storage costs, while improving safety, reliability and inventory management."
Like all CIG Logistics locations, the Jal terminal is set to receive and handle both manifest and unit trains, as well as deliver reliable and real-time inventory management and business intelligence.
The Jal terminal already employs 21 skilled workers, including railroad engineers and conductors. To meet growing demand, a phase two expansion of an additional 160 rail car spots and 6,000 tons of silo storage is already being planned for early 2016.
"Lea County officials have been a major supporter of the project and were instrumental in the opening of our new facility," said CIG Logistics Vice President of Facilities David Friesen "We're grateful for their relentless efforts to help grow the local economy and stimulate business growth here in New Mexico."
The addition of this terminal in New Mexico expands CIG Logistics' portfolio to six transloading and storage facilities. The company operates locations throughout Texas, including Lubbock, Slaton, San Antonio, Big Lake and Hugh Springs.
