New Poll Finds Majority Of Californians Think Senator Boxer Is Doing A Poor Job Of Getting Unemployed Californians Back To Work
76% Think New Jobs In California Should Go To Unemployed Americans Instead of Bringing In More Immigrant Workers
LOS ANGELES, June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A new poll conducted by Pulse Opinion Research on behalf of Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) finds that 52% of Californians disapprove of the job Senator Barbara Boxer is doing to create new California jobs and get unemployed Californians working again. Additionally, 76% of Californians thought new jobs created in California should go to unemployed Californians instead of bringing in new immigrant workers. The poll was conducted on May 24th, 2012 among one thousand likely voters in California. It is being released following President Obama's announcement last week that he would give work permits to illegal aliens despite the highest U.S. unemployment since the Great Depression.
"If politicians like Senator Boxer and President Obama want to keep their jobs, they need to find innovative ways to create jobs for unemployed Americans," commented Marilyn DeYoung, Chairman of the Board of Californians for Population Stabilization. "An obvious part of the jobs solution is slowing the flow of new immigrant workers until all Americans, including those right here in California are working again."
California has recently recorded some of the highest unemployment rates in the nation. Unemployment has already topped 12% this year and more than two million can't finds jobs in the Golden State. Yet despite high unemployment, California politicians like Barbara Boxer are standing by and raising no objections as our government continues to admit one million legal immigrant workers a year to take unemployed Americans' jobs.
The poll results are being released as CAPS airs a TV commercial in California calling on Senator Boxer to slow mass immigration and save jobs for unemployed Californians. To date, Boxer has continued to do nothing to slow the flow of new immigrant workers. Here is a summary of poll findings:
- 52% disapprove of the job Senator Boxer is doing getting unemployed Californians back to work
- 76% think new California jobs should go to unemployed Californians instead of bringing in new legal immigrant workers
- 65% oppose Visa Lottery
- 66% oppose Chain Migration
- 70% favor mandating all Californian employers electronically verify their workers are in the country legally and have a work visa.
CAPS will release more poll results shortly. For more about CAPS, visit www.CAPSweb.org.
