LAKEWOOD, Colo., May 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Earlier this month, BPL Plasma, one of the fastest growing plasma collection companies in the United States, opened its 37th plasma donation center in Lakewood, Colorado, part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood metropolitan area. In addition to providing the plasma used in cutting-edge pharmaceutical therapies, each new center supports approximately 35 new jobs its first year of operation, and up to 70 new jobs in the future as the donor base expands. Each center also infuses an estimated $3-5 million into the local economy every year, through fees paid to donors.
"We are thrilled to be expanding our operations and opening more centers in communities like Lakewood," said Rob Jardeleza, President and CEO of BPL Plasma. "More centers means more plasma, and more plasma means more abundant and better life-saving therapies for the people who desperately need them. Our donors are literal lifelines to the patients who use their plasma, and we are 100 percent committed to ensuring a convenient, safe and quality-driven experience for them."
Plasma collected from donors is used as the essential component in certain therapeutics for patients around the world. Plasma-based therapeutics are used in the treatment of serious disorders such as hemophilia and immune system deficiencies, and to treat victims of shock and burn.
The 55-bed donation center, located at 6300 W. Colfax Avenue, is open Monday through Friday from noon until 6:00 p.m., though the hours of operation will be increased in the coming weeks. In order to donate plasma, potential donors must present a valid form of identification, affirming residence within 50 miles of the facility, and a copy of their social security number or another acceptable identification number.
After a physical examination and a medical history performed on site, most healthy adults under the age of 65 can donate plasma. For first-time donors, the process usually lasts approximately two hours, though subsequent donations are faster. Plasma donors are compensated for their time. New donors can be compensated up to $50 for each donation, and BPL Plasma offers monthly promotions and several special incentive programs. Please go to www.BPLplasma.com for specific details, offers and donation guidelines.
BPL is dedicated to finding the very best talent to help fulfill its mission of supplying the highest quality plasma. The Lakewood donation center has already hired 25 full-time employees in a variety of roles such as Phlebotomists, EMTs and center management. BPL Plasma offers competitive compensation along with a robust employee benefits package which includes paid time off, health insurance and a 401-K retirement program.
Additional full and part time positions will be added as the donor base expands. Applicants with a passion for helping others may apply by sending a resume to [email protected]. Visit our website at bplplasma.com for more information about employment.
