New Pennsylvania Fair Guide Offers Affordable Destinations for Families
More than 100 Fairs Combine Farms, Food and Fun
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Affordable, family friendly travel destinations are featured in the 2012 Pennsylvania Fair Guide, now available in print or online.
Offering information on the dates and locations of the more than 100 fairs held across Pennsylvania, the guide is available online at www.agriculture.state.pa.us.
"Pennsylvania's county and community fairs offer a distinctive combination of farms, food and fun," said Agriculture Secretary George Greig. "Visit our fairs and discover why they have become a favorite family tradition of more than six million Pennsylvanians."
New this year is PA Preferred™, the official brand of agricultural commodities grown or made in the state. The program's logo, a gold checkmark inside a blue keystone, makes it easy for consumers to identify and buy agricultural products produced here by our farmers and businesses. PA Preferred is sponsoring chocolate baking contests at each fair. Contact your local fair for information about contest rules. For more information about PA Preferred, visit www.PAPreferred.com.
The guide also highlights 15 fairs that offer live harness racing as part of one of the nation's leading fair racing programs.
In addition to fairs, Pennsylvania is home to other educational and affordable agricultural destinations, including farmers markets, wineries and farm stay bed and breakfasts. The Pennsylvania Tourism Office highlights these agritourism destinations online at www.visitpa.com/KeystoneCountry.
