New Online Master's Program for Healthcare Professionals Offered in Accelerated Format
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Physician assistants, nurses, athletic trainers and other healthcare professionals seeking graduate credentials and expanded career options can enroll in the 30-credit, online Master of Science in Health Sciences (MSHS) program at Duquesne University.
Offered by the John G. Rangos, Sr. School of Health Sciences, the MSHS program offers online courses in an accelerated, 7-week format over just five semesters, providing flexibility for working professionals.
"The competitive environment has changed," said Dr. Bridget Calhoun, chair and associate professor of physician assistant studies. "Physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other health care professionals from traditional programs are now competing with recent graduates, all of whom have graduate credentials."
MSHS courses will provide in-depth instruction on current disparities in health care, patient safety, quality assurance, interpretation of medical research, health policy, medical education, rehabilitation, administration and health care law.
"We developed this program for those physician assistants and other healthcare professionals who want to be better positioned to advance their careers in the clinical arena, research or administration," explained Calhoun. "The program will also prepare graduates to serve as faculty members in health profession training programs."
Applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university and have a minimum of two years of health- or clinical-research related experience.
