New Modular Pressure Transducer from Measurement Specialties Provides Low-cost Flexibility
Rugged sensor accurately measures liquid and gas in harsh, corrosive environments
HAMPTON, Va., Feb. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Measurement Specialties (NASDAQ: MEAS), an expert in sensor design and manufacturing, now offers the M5200, a low-cost, durable pressure transducer with exceptional modularity that provides an accuracy of +/-0.25% F.S. BFSL in harsh environments.

In addition to the 316L stainless steel housing, the M5200 features a pressure port machined from a solid piece of 17-4 PH or 316L stainless steel. This shields the sensitive pressure media from O-rings, seals and welds that could expose it to corrosive elements, ensuring reliable, long term measurement. In addition, Measurement Specialties' proprietary Microfused technology eliminates age-sensitive organic epoxies on the pressure media.
The compact transducer can be used in a number of commercial, automotive, agriculture and heavy industrial applications to measure liquids or gases, including contaminated water, steam and mildly corrosive fluids.
Different pressure ports and electrical configurations are available on the new transducer to provide a customized, cost-effective unit specifically matched to a user's application. Standard pressure ranges vary from 0 to 50 psi (0 to 3.5 bar) up to 0 to 15,000 psi (0 to 1,000 bar) in gage, sealed or compound gage configurations.
In addition to its heavy industrial CE approval, the M5200 features reverse polarity protection at input and short circuit protection at output to further ensure reliable operation.
The weatherproof transducer is available in connection configurations such as bayonet, cable and M12 (IP67), Packard (IP66) and Form A and C (IP65). More than ten pressure ports, including BSPP, NPT, UNF and ISO 6149-2 options, add to the unit's design flexibility.
An optional stainless steel snubber acts as a flow control mechanism, if needed.
Both low and high volume applications can benefit from the cost-efficiencies and design options of the new transducer.
