New Mini-MBA programs at Rutgers offer veterans a chance to supplement their military experience with business knowledge and management skills
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J., Feb. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Rutgers Business School Executive Education (RBSEE) is tailoring some of its newest certificate programs to assist veterans who are transitioning into the workforce.
Programs such as the NEW Mini-MBA: Business Management for Military and Veterans, and the Mini-MBA: Engineering and Technology Management offer service men and women an opportunity to supplement their military skills and experience with business knowledge that enhances their marketability to large and small companies.
The Veterans Administration has approved the Mini-MBA: Engineering and Technology Management program, meaning veterans can use money provided through the GI Bill to pay for the course fees.
The Rutgers Mini-MBA in Engineering and Technology Management was developed in collaboration with IEEE, the world's largest professional association. This course was created to enhance business acumen at the managerial level. The program digs deep into learning business strategy, financial analysis, and change management. We are also offering a Rutgers Mini-MBA in Business Management for Military and Veterans. This program is intended to assist, train, and guide returning veterans into the workforce. Attendees will leave knowing the key concepts, tools, and techniques that are necessary to succeed in a challenging and always changing civilian business environment.
Stephen Abel, director of Veteran & Military Programs and Services at Rutgers University and a retired U.S. Army colonel, said "veterans are disciplined, responsible, and often bring skills and experience to the table that other job candidates do not have."
"We want our veterans to become employed in the civilian workforce," Abel said. "Transitioning their skills may involve obtaining a degree or earning a certificate such as Rutgers Mini-MBA."
Last year, Military Times ranked RBS as the fourth best business school in the country for veterans, and in 2013, U.S. Veterans Magazine listed Rutgers University as one of the nation's top veteran friendly schools.
