New Mexico's Surprise Valley Ranch to sell in Assiter auction
SAPELLO, N.M., Aug. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Surprise Valley Ranch -- with a lodge, home, saloon, barn, 12 fishing ponds and almost a mile and a half on the Sapello River -- is set to sell at auction Thursday, Sept. 19, with Assiter Auctioneers marketing the property and managing the sale.
"The facilities at this retreat are just remarkable -- including not only the 5,000-square-foot log lodge, but also four cabins, a horse barn, a manager's home and an office. The saloon, which has a full commercial kitchen, can accommodate 30 to 40 with indoor and outdoor seating. The lodge and cabins can sleep 35 or more, making this a great place to entertain clients, friends or parishioners," said Spanky Assiter, president of the auction company.
"This is a remarkably scenic 360-acre ranch that's perfect for use as a personal or corporate retreat, church retreat, hunting/fishing outfitter or any other use that benefits from great scenery, fish, diverse wildlife and housing," said Assiter. The ranch has five main natural springs and more than 20 minor springs, as well as two wells.
The ranch is surrounded by the Santa Fe National Forest and the Pecos Wilderness, with abundant wildlife, including bear, lion, elk, deer, bobcat, coyote, turkey, grouse and bald eagles.
Selling separately in the auction will be several pieces of heavy equipment, including a tractor, backhoe and several vehicles.
The auction will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the ranch, which is located 30 miles from Las Vegas, N.M. Individuals seeking additional information may visit www.assiter.com or call 806-655-3900.
