SANTA FE, N.M., March 4, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A resolution honoring the Affordable Housing Program (AHP) from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) was announced today on the floor of New Mexico's House of Representatives.
To honor the quarter-century of affordable housing funding to New Mexico, the state's governor, Susana Martinez, issued a proclamation proclaiming March to be the "25th Anniversary of the Affordable Housing Program" month in New Mexico. The House resolution, sponsored by House Speaker Don Tripp (R-49), lauds the program that helps very low- to moderate-income individuals and families with their housing needs.
Since 1990, New Mexico has been awarded more than $30 million in AHP competitive grants and $931,000 in AHP set-aside program grants for the construction or rehabilitation of more than 150 housing projects. "Competitive" refers to the 100-point scale used to score applications. Applications achieving the highest scores receive first priority for funding. The set-aside programs assist first-time homebuyers and special-needs homeowners
"It's an honor to recognize the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas for 25 years of service in providing New Mexicans affordable housing," said Governor Martinez. "The FHLB Dallas AHP program has focused on construction, renovation, and down-payment assistance, all in the name of creating opportunities for safe housing and homeownership. I extend a big thank you on behalf of all those in New Mexico who have benefited from FHLB Dallas and its members' community service."
FHLB Dallas Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Bre Chapman said the Bank is pleased to support its members in financing affordable housing initiatives in their local communities.
"We are honored to receive recognition from the state of New Mexico for assisting our members in creating affordable housing opportunities for the residents of their communities," said Ms. Chapman said.
