New Medical Director Leads Child Center At Rogers Memorial Hospital
OCONOMOWOC, Wis., Sept. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cuong Chi Tieu, M.D., has joined Rogers Behavioral Health System as the new medical director for the nationally recognized Child Center at Rogers Memorial Hospital--Oconomowoc. His primary responsibility will be to oversee the residential treatment center's day-to-day operations, leading all aspects of its programs and working with the administrative and psychiatric staff to assure the best care for patients and their families.

Specializing in treating children and adolescents with emotional, learning and/or behavioral difficulties, Dr. Tieu is board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry, as well as general psychiatry. A Milwaukee native, he graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), where he completed his internship and residency in general psychiatry, as well as a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. He served as chief resident of child psychiatry at MCW from 2008-2009.
Dr. Tieu has worked in multiple practice settings, providing psychiatric care ranging from acute inpatient services to clinic based outpatient services. Most recently, he served as assistant professor for the department of psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Austin, where he trained students, residents and fellows, emphasizing the use of evidence based medicine in psychiatric care.
A member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Tieu emphasizes the importance of educating and partnering with families, as well as utilizing pharmacogenetics (the study of genetic differences that can affect individual responses to drugs) to create custom treatment plans.
Dr. Tieu succeeds Stephanie Eken, M.D., who was recently appointed as regional medical director for the Rogers Behavioral Health System's partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. Rogers plans to open its first out-of-state satellite location, Rogers Behavioral Health–Tampa Bay, later in September.
