LAS VEGAS, March 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Two new antennas built to withstand extreme industrial conditions are being introduced by global technology leader Laird (LRD: London), today.
The emerging Internet of Things (IoT) requires that more equipment remain constantly connected regardless of the surrounding conditions. For industrial settings like oil refineries, sensors and automation are being leveraged to reduce costs and optimize assets. To be effective this equipment cannot lose a connection because of hazards such as moisture, dust, and severe temperatures.
To provide the increased connectivity demanded Laird engineers designed the new HCR Dual Band and HCR Tri-band Rotatable Shell Omnidirectional Antennas. These antennas support dual band and tri-band operation and are part of Laird's respected HCR line of antennas which are equipped to handle the worst conditions while still providing reliable performance.
"We like to say the HCR line of Antennas deliver high performance, reliable communications almost anywhere a machine operates including the most extreme environments," Laird's Senior Vice President of Infrastructure Antenna Systems, Monte Rohde explains. "Employees depend on constant interaction with their equipment wherever it operates because real-time wireless control, alerts, and feedback from the machines is critical to productivity and safety," says Rohde.
With applications including commercial, industrial, and the IoT, these antennas are the result of extensive investment in research, customer feedback, and comprehensive testing. Both antennas are rated for temporary water immersion, can withstand temperatures from -40 degrees to 70 degrees Celsius, and offer a variety of vandal resistant mounting options.
The HCR antenna platform provides frequency agility, low visibility, wide bandwidth and a low angle radiation pattern which is superior to traditional gain antennas in most applications. This makes it ideal for M2M system applications within the commercial, industrial, transportation, energy, utility, and outdoor retail industries.
The HCR Dual Band Omnidirectional Antenna operates in the 824 to 894 MHz or 1850 to 1990 MHz frequency ranges while the HCR Tri-Band Omnidirectional Antenna models function in the 824 to 894 MHz, 1710 to 1880 MHz and 1910 to 2170 MHz frequency range in addition to the 880 to 960 MHz, 1710 to 1880 MHz and 1850 to 1990 MHz frequency ranges.
The HCR also comes standard with an industry leading five (5) year materials and workmanship product warranty. You can learn more by clicking here.
