New Look and Find® Sesame Street App Gives Classic Early-Learning Tool a Digital Update
LINCOLNWOOD, Ill., March 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Look and Find® Elmo on Sesame Street, an app for iPad and iPhone, takes a classic early learning play pattern and updates it for the digital age. Launched by Publications International , Ltd. (PIL) and Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, this new children's app will delight 2- to 6-year-olds as they develop observation and memory skills. iPhone and iPad versions of the app are available in the Apple App Store at a special introductory price of $0.99.
Children are encouraged by Elmo to search through a series of scenes to find objects "hidden in plain sight." Secret stickers and a memory-building game add more options for meaningful play.
Features of the Look and Find® Elmo on Sesame Street app include:
- Six different look-and-find scenes
- Super Duper hidden stickers and sticker book
- Look-Look memory game
- Parent tips from the education experts at Sesame Street
- Lots of encouraging words from Elmo!
"For more than 20 years, our Look and Find® products have been helping children identify everyday objects, notice details, and stay focused on a goal," says Louis Weber, PIL's CEO and President. "Now, digital interactivity makes this play pattern more valuable than ever as a tool for developing visual literacy."
"Publications International's Look and Find print books have been a staple of Sesame Street's publishing program for many years. The game-based approach paired with our familiar characters encourages children to stay focused and makes learning fun," said Jennifer A. Perry Vice President, Worldwide Publishing, Sesame Workshop. "This app offers a new dynamic way to experience the original book's skills-building game play."
Evidence from play research has shown that children can benefit educationally when engaged in hands-on activities that are of interest to them. Formative research studies conducted by Sesame Workshop on touch devices suggest that there is high appeal and replay value when children are asked to search for objects.
The special introductory price will be available through March 17, 2013. The app will be regularly priced at $1.99 (standard, iPhone version) and $2.99 (HD, for iPad).
