Deere & Company Analyst Notes
On June 3, 2014, Deere & Company (John Deere) introduced R4045 Sprayer - higher horsepower, large capacity self-propelled sprayer to the lineup of 4 Series sprayers which was introduced in 2013. The Company stated that the R4045 Sprayer which replaces the Company's 4940 Sprayer, also offers high application rates and productive spray speeds. According to Dave Mulder, Product Line Manager for John Deere, the new sprayer is designed with the durability to handle challenging field conditions and accurately apply liquid product and dry nutrients as quickly as possible. The Company informed that the new Sprayer is equipped with a 346 horsepower Final Tier 4 Power Tech PSS 9.0L engine with a four-wheel hydrostatic drive that can operate at 25 MPH spraying/spreading and 35 MPH in transport. John Deere further notified that the R4045 shares a similar frame, yet improved features with its members, which includes a spacious cab with more glass that enables greater visibility, comfortable, finger-tip control of all machine operations, and cruise control feature which allows the system to automatically control the vehicle. On June 5, 2014, Lockheed Martin Corporation reported that 61st Airlift Squadron at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas has received Company's C-130J Super Hercules airlifter. The Company stated that the 61st Squadron, which operates C-130s since 1956, is part of Air Mobility Command's 19th Airlift Wing. Raytheon Company Analyst Notes
On June 4, 2014, Raytheon Company (Raytheon) reported that it has been awarded a $6 million study and demonstration contract by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) to further develop an Enterprise Air Surveillance Radar (EASR) to maximize flexibility and affordability. According to the Company, EASR's flexible approach meets the performance needs of different candidate ship classes for self-defense, situational awareness, air traffic control, and weather monitoring. Raytheon stated that its EASR concept leverages proven Radar Modular Assembly (RMA) architecture matured on Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR), and affords EASR the scalability to be used for a diverse set of mission requirements. Paul Ferraro, Vice President of Advanced Technology Programs for Raytheon's Integrated Defense Systems business, said, "It is clear that the Navy is committed to leveraging the latest in technology and innovation to stay ahead of evolving threats. The next generation EASR radar program is the latest example of Raytheon's partnership with ONR to drive advancement and provide affordable best in class solutions." Parker Hannifin Corporation Analyst Notes
On June 4, 2014, Parker Hannifin Corporation (Parker Hannifin) announced the development of a commercial version of Indego, a powered limb orthotic device also known as exoskeleton, enabling clinicians to conduct task specific gait training and allow people with mobility impairments, such as spinal cord injury, to move. According to the Company, designed for personal use and as a therapy tool, Indego features modular design, self-aligning connections, and single hand adjustment strapping system. It also uses postural position to operate and includes vibratory feedback. Parker Hannifin added that its lightweight feature enables the device for ease handling. The Company stated that at present, it is working to secure the regulatory approvals and CE marking for Indego in Europe, which is expected to end by end of 2014. Achilleas Dorotheou, Head of the Human Motion and Control Business Unit for Parker Hannifin, said, "We are excited to be progressing towards making this device available commercially in Europe in 2015 and in the United States in 2016."
