New, Larger, Bilateral Breast Graft Kits Announced by MTF
EDISON, N.J., Jan. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation (MTF) has announced the release of two new sizes of its popular FLEX HD® bi-lateral breast kits. The new sizes--16cm x 20cm and 20cm x 20cm--are being introduced in order to meet the needs of surgeons and their patients. This unique human dermal allograft is specifically prepared and packaged for bilateral breast reconstruction.
It has been a year since MTF introduced its bi-lateral breast kit for the first time. The new, larger sizes are being released based on surgeon input to accommodate the need for larger tissue coverage that may be called for depending on implant and patient considerations.
The use of human acellular dermal matrix (ADM) grafts in breast reconstruction is becoming increasingly popular. Since many breast cases are bilateral, and aesthetic outcomes are desired, surgeons asked MTF for procedure-based kits containing two matched pieces of FlexHD acellular hydrated dermal tissue, prepared from the same donor.
FlexHD grafts offer excellent handling characteristics and biomechanical properties as well as the added benefit of convenience. They are packaged hydrated and do not require hydration prior to use or refrigeration for storage, resulting in tissue grafts that are easily accessible and ready to use at all times.
FlexHD grafts help to avoid potentially costly and unnecessary work prior to and during cases. Surgeons may select the size and type of graft they'd like to use any time during a procedure, preventing any of the costs associated with wasted tissue or added OR time.
FlexHD passes USP <71> sterility tests and meets or exceeds FDA and AATB standards for donor criteria, processing and tissue safety. With over 4.8 million grafts distributed since its inception, MTF possesses an unrivaled safety record.
