New Jersey Political Strategist Karen Kominsky Joins Cozen O'Connor
TRENTON, N.J., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Cozen O'Connor announced that New Jersey political strategist Karen J. Kominsky has joined the firm in Trenton, N.J., as a member of its Public Strategies group.
Kominsky has held several high-profile positions in both the public and private sectors. Most recently, she worked as a consultant specializing in government affairs, strategic communications and grassroots advocacy with the firm she founded, the ADV Group, LLC. Previously, she served as Deputy Chief of Staff under two New Jersey Governors from December 2002 until January 2006. During her tenure, Kominsky guided the passage of many landmark pieces of legislation for the State, such as automobile insurance reform, the Domestic Partnership Act and a stem-cell research initiative.
"Karen is a well-known veteran of the New Jersey government who has earned respect on both sides of the aisle," said Tad Decker, president and CEO of Cozen O'Connor. "Her direct knowledge and experience with the workings of the government will benefit our clients as we help them navigate through legislative and regulatory processes."
Kominsky's grasp of regulatory affairs was honed during her many years in State government, where she specialized in land use and environmental issues. A New Jersey licensed professional planner, Kominsky was appointed Master for Mt. Laurel housing litigation in New Jersey Superior Court for several affordable housing cases from 1990-1994.
Kominsky has engaged in public service for several years with tremendous distinction. Her impressive career includes appointments by both Democratic and Republican Governors. She previously served as Deputy Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, acting chair of the New Jersey Building Authority, and board member of the Garden State Preservation Trust and the New Jersey Real Estate Commission.
Active in the Democratic Party, Kominsky served as State Director of the Hillary Clinton for President Campaign in New Jersey, and as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in August 2008.
A graduate of Douglass College, Kominsky earned her Masters of City and Regional Planning from the Bloustein School at Rutgers University.
