New Jersey Plastic Surgery Center Raises Record Amount for Alzheimer's Association
Dr. Paul Parker and the Parker Center for Plastic Surgery staff bring in over $11,000 in donations during their The Longest Day Event
PARAMUS, N.J., July 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On June 18th, the Parker Center for Plastic Surgery once again participated in the Alzheimer's Association's annual Longest Day event to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer's epidemic. Last year, the Parker Center team was able to raise over $6,000, a record they were hoping to break with this year's event.
"After a close relative was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, I made it my mission to research the cause and do all that I could to support education and research," says Angela Parisi, nurse coordinator and injector at the Parker Center. "We work closely with the Alzheimer's Association throughout the year, but The Longest Day event is our opportunity to rally our patients and engage in creative fundraising."
For the 2015 Longest Day event, the Parker Center offered patients selected free cosmetic treatments and services all day long. To qualify for these savings, each patient was required to donate at least 50% of the value of their chosen treatment directly to the Alzheimer's Association.
"We were floored by the response and support of our patients," Angela continues. "All of our appointments were filled quickly and we were able to raise $11,480 just from their contributions. We are incredibly proud of the entire team."
The Parker Center is committed to supporting the community and has maintained a close relationship with the Alzheimer's Association through yearly activities, fundraising, and special events. Angela, Dr. Parker, and the Parker Center staff have been participating in The Longest Day event for 2 years, and the team is already brainstorming unique ways they can raise even more in donations next year.
Throughout the year, the Parker Center also supports a number of both local and national organizations through donations, volunteer efforts, and fundraising events. "We are all committed to giving back to our community," states Angela. "We're very thankful that we are able to offer our time, energy, and resources to those who need a little extra help."
