New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. (NJMEP) Expands New Workforce Development Training and Certification Programs
NJMEP releases new workforce development training programs to help meet the needs of today's advanced manufacturing jobs.
CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J., Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- NJMEP is thrilled to launch a new comprehensive library of workforce development training and certification programs aimed at combating the convergence of workforce challenges facing manufacturers, including changing technologies, evolving skill sets, an aging workforce and a lack of interest in manufacturing jobs.
"When we decided to build out these programs, we really wanted to focus on interdisciplinary training with a range of different skills sets," said Robert Stramara, Chief Operations Officer, NJMEP. "Manufacturing jobs aren't siloed anymore, so we are providing hands-on training and skill development to help prepare employers and employees with integrated skills and advanced technologies out on the plant floor."
"The skills gap is an issue that affects every industrial operation today," said John W. Kennedy, Chief Executive Officer, NJMEP. "This sort of hands-on training and upskilling will be key to helping fill that gap."
The programs available will help employees who require refresher courses to maintain their compliance and increase awareness of new, evolving risks in the workplace, as well as those who are interested in pursuing careers in manufacturing.
Many of the programs result in achievement of an industry-valued credential, which validate employability and competency. Soon, NJMEP will be offering courses that result in certifications from the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC). These credentials focus on the core skills and knowledge needed for the manufacturing and logistics industry.
A sampling of the programs include:
- Six Sigma Green Belt
- Supervisory Skills
- Principles of Lean with Live Simulation
- Business Growth Suite
- ISO 9000 Internal Audit
- Industrial Hydraulics
- PCQI
- SQF
- Food Recalls and Withdrawals
- Food Allergen
"We hear from many of our clients that when organizations invest in their talent, employees progress toward their goals faster and are less likely to leave. With the right skills, employees and the organization flourish and feel good about the work they do. Companies appreciate the reduced turnover," said Robert Stramara.
Course Content may be tailored to the needs of clients in both the public and private sectors, providing efficient, effective methods to deliver quality programs to their employees.
