New Inspiring Children's Book (Ages 5-12) Offers Engaging Tale That Shows Parents and Kids How to Cope with Hospital Visits
Hal Price, "The Bedtime Story Guy," publishes new children's book about overcoming adversity
CARPINTERIA, Calif., Sept. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The new read-aloud children's bedtime story "Eli Bear & His Friends: A Heart's Journey Home," published this month, will help every child and family experiencing medical challenges or life challenges.
"This book belongs in the hands of every family whose child is facing the scary experience of going to a hospital with high anxiety for the entire family," said Hal Price, a five-time international bestselling author, the father of three purpose-driven children, a grandfather, and a volunteer for the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation. His goal is to bring back the 30-minute family story hour.
"I am on a mission to save the tradition of family bedtime stories," said Price. "Children absorb so much from this simple practice that benefits them for the rest of their lives. It's a special one-to-one sharing with a parent or grandparent that makes them feel safe and loved."
Price and his faithful teddy bear Eli Benjamin Bear have been visiting local children in hospitals and reading Eli's stories. Price believes that the healing power of story can calm a child's fear of being hospitalized, or other complicated childhood problems.
About the story: The Adventures of Eli Benjamin Bear: A Heart's Journey Home
Eli Benjamin Bear, a young bear with a heart problem, was sent away from his parents to a human hospital. Now with a zippered heart, Eli sets out on a series of adventures that create magical bedtime stories.
The Adventures of Eli Benjamin Bear: A Heart's Journey Home contains 58 chapters that parents or grandparents can read to children. Each chapter is approximately three pages with a life lesson set in iambic pentameter poetry. Children love the natural rhythms of the verse and heartwarming illustrations that recount Eli's adventures.
"The Eli Benjamin Bear stories," said Price, "offer positive messages about kindness and overcoming adversity. My own life-threatening experience was a heart awakening that opened my eyes. I left a very lucrative career and found my destiny – writing stories in verse for children."
The author has tapped into his own real-life heart challenge with heart disease and imbued his whimsical writings with positivity, loving wisdom, and spiritual empowerment. This is a heartwarming story for families to discover and share as one.
Price's new children's book uses song-like verse that is reminiscent of the innovative poetry and illustration of Shel Silverstein, and has an adventurous character learning experiences that Frank Baum wove into "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." EliBearStories.com has it's own TV channel where children can view short stories from Eli and others.
A portion of the book's proceeds go to the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation.
