New InformationWeek Reports Research Finds 73% of IT Pros Say Desire to Optimize Business Operations Drives Advanced Analytics Use
34% cite gaining competitive intelligence as goal of social media/social network analysis technologies
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- InformationWeek Reports (http://reports.informationweek.com), a service for peer-based IT research and analysis, announced the release of its latest research report. 2012 BI and Information Management Trends encompasses analysis of results from InformationWeek's recent 2012 Business Intelligence, Analytics and Information Management Survey, which garnered 542 respondents and features exclusive trending data.
Research Summary:
Interest in analytics in general, and advanced statistical and predictive analytics in particular, rose for the third year in a row, with 58% of those using or planning to deploy BI, data analytics or statistical analysis software saying they are very or extremely interested in advanced analytics; it came it at No. 1 among a dozen leading-edge technologies offered.
Other Findings:
- 55% say the possibility of lower costs is driving their interest in software-as-a-service/cloud-computing-based BI/analytics; however, 63% have data security/privacy concerns.
- 46% cite data quality problems as the top barrier to adopting BI/analytics products enterprisewide; just 9% say they have lower than expected analytic value.
- 25% use mobile (smartphone- or tablet-based) dashboards/data visualizations to share BI/analytic insights.
- 8% give every employee access to BI/analytics.
