New Industry Reports Reveal Blazing Growth and Share Leadership for Ruckus Wireless in Both Enterprise and Carrier Markets
New Gartner Report Shows Ruckus as the Fastest Growing in Enterprise WLANs, New Dell'Oro Report Reveals Ruckus as 2011 Market Share Leader in Carrier Wi-Fi Shipments
SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruckus Wireless™ (Ruckus) today announced that it has again been recognized as the fastest growing Wi-Fi supplier within the worldwide market for enterprise wireless LANs, according to a new Gartner report. In addition, the company has garnered the top market share spot in the carrier Wi-Fi space, according to a new industry study from Dell'Oro.
In the fourth quarter of 2011, Ruckus achieved the highest year-over-year revenue growth of all wireless LAN suppliers worldwide, growing over 134 percent, according to Gartner's newly published Market Share: Enterprise WLAN Equipment, Worldwide, 4Q11 report. With respect to Q4, 2011 vendor revenue and unit shipments of WLAN coordinated access points, Ruckus saw 181 and 289 percent growth respectively over the same period in 2010 – increasing its sequential quarterly market share from 3.7 to 4.9 percent worldwide.
In the emerging carrier Wi-Fi space, for the second year in a row, Ruckus was identified as the 2011 market leader with a 26.7 percent share of service provider Wi-Fi mesh node shipments, according to a new Dell'Oro report on the wireless market. According to the report, Ruckus shipped more than 26,000 Wi-Fi mesh access points to carriers.
"Given our late entrance into the enterprise wireless LAN market, our growth is a remarkable achievement by anyone's standards," said Robert Mustarde, VP of marketing for Ruckus Wireless. "Our hope is to continue this fast growth as the market sends a very clear message that they want Wi-Fi that simply delivers more reliable wireless connections and capacity, and insane performance. Whether it's a hotel, school, hospital or mobile operator, vanilla Wi-Fi doesn't cut it any longer."
The well-known explosion of data traffic from smart handheld devices hitting operator networks is driving the burgeoning market for carrier Wi-Fi. Service providers are being compelled to take a more aggressive and strategic stance to integrating Wi-Fi within their existing infrastructures. Meanwhile, an increasingly large and loyal base of value-added resellers and distributors selling to mid-market companies has been fundamental to Ruckus' success in the enterprise market.
With over 12,000 customers and 4,500 solutions partners worldwide, Ruckus' customer base crosses almost every vertical market in every region of the world with some of most prestigious companies such as KDDI, The Cloud, Towerstream, China Unicom, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, KLIA International Airport, Delhi University, the City of San Josem, Baruch College, Universidad del Valle de Mexico, Satilla Medical Center, Georgia World Congress Center, Balboa Park, Indian Wells Tennis Garden, Ziff Davis Publishing and many others.
