New Honeywell AirGenius Air Cleaner Is First to Offer Homeowners Large-Room Cleaning, Smart Controls and Washable Filter in a Sleek Tower Design
Home expert Evette Rios reveals new data showing that only one in three homeowners thinks about the air they're breathing in - and how the Honeywell AirGenius can help
SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass., April 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The new Honeywell AirGenius 5 is the first air cleaner that combines top consumer desired features into one model, including large room cleaning, sleek design, Smart Controls, quiet operation and optimized air cleaning based on homeowners' specific daily and seasonal needs.

The air cleaner features five intuitive cleaning levels – Sleep, Germs, General, Allergen, and Max – and is great for any room in the house, whether it is used in the living room during spring allergy season, in the kitchen to help reduce cooking odors, or in the bedroom while sleeping. The AirGenius 5 features a patented washable honeycomb-style filter that does not restrict airflow like paper filters do, allowing for extremely quiet operation while still capturing up to 99.9% of particles (0.3 microns and larger) from the air that passes through it.
"On average, people take 21,600 breaths a day, but rarely think about what they're breathing. A recent national survey by the makers of Honeywell Air Purifiers found that only one out of three people thinks about what's in their home air – and there's a lot. In fact, the EPA says that indoor air can be five to 100 times more polluted than outdoor air. Airborne particles, like pollen and dust, can enter the home from outside and become trapped indoors, or pollutants can result from cooking, cleaning, painting, and other normal indoor activities," said home expert Evette Rios.
"The Honeywell AirGenius 5 diminishes kitchen, nursery and bathroom odors and even reduces VOCs, airborne allergens, and airborne germs -- key for families who spend a lot of time indoors with pets, young children, or hosting guests. Even more, the AirGenius has a sleek tower design that integrates seamlessly into your home decor," said Rios.
The AirGenius 5 combines more exceptional performance and consumer-preferred features than other air cleaners on the market:
1. Tough air cleaning action for small, medium and large rooms
The AirGenius 5 is independently tested at a 3rd party lab and then certified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers for a 250 square foot room, but it works great in small and medium size rooms as well. It circulates the air up to five times an hour in a room and features the patented QuietClean® ifD® filtration system, which captures up to 99.9% of particles that pass through the filter. The filter captures both visible large particles and microscopic particles as small as 0.3 microns – 250 times smaller than the width of a human hair.
2. Smart Controls that do the thinking for you
The controls are intuitive and easy to use. With a simple tap of a finger, the contemporary touch screen smart controls automatically adjust to draw particles in at the right level to allow the appropriate filter dwell time, resulting in a high capture rate for that particular particle type.
3. Quieter filtration than other models
Air purifiers designed to clean a large room can be noisy, but the AirGenius cleans a large room quietly. Even on the highest cleaning level, the sound is comfortable for placement in living or sleeping areas.
4. Easy and low-cost to maintain – just wash the filter
Simply rinse the primary filter in a sink four times a year – no need to replace it.
5. Sleek, smart design
The ENERGY STAR®-rated AirGenius 5 offers a sleek tower design and smart design features like oscillation and an auto shut-off timer.
The AirGenius 5 is available at Target for $239.99 (MSRP) and has a five year limited warranty. The air cleaner line also includes the AirGenius 3, which offers Sleep, General and Max cleaning levels for $179.99 (MSRP), and AirGenius 4, which offers Sleep, General, Allergen and Max cleaning levels for $199.99 (MSRP).
