The DCHA Bureau includes tools and teams that enable swift responses to conflict and disasters while also laying the ground work for longer term development.
"Nancy's combination of experiences in humanitarian response, along with an unwavering commitment to sustainable development is what makes her the perfect person for this critical appointment," said Dr. Shah. "Nancy will lead a bureau with a powerful set of capabilities, aimed at meeting the challenges posed by weak and poorly governed states, those more likely to fall prey to conflict or suffer from the ravages of natural disaster. We are thrilled to have the benefit of her immense talents and experience."
Prior to joining USAID, Ms. Lindborg was president of Mercy Corps for 14 years. Ms. Lindborg also served as co-president on the Board of Directors for the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition. She was co-chair of the National Committee on North Korea where she led efforts to advance, promote, and facilitate engagement between citizens of the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and was a member of the USAID Advisory Committee on Voluntary Foreign Aid.
Ms. Lindborg holds a B.A and M.A. in English Literature from Stanford University and an M.A. in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
