New, Free Mobile Application Launched To Help Reduce Obesity In Children Nationwide
Intermountain Healthcare's innovative LiVe campaign encourages physical activity and healthy eating for children
SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Helping children and teens make good nutrition and fitness choices is now as simple as a click or a shake on your iPhone or iPod Touch. (iPad is available December 1.)
Intermountain Healthcare, the hospital system based in Salt Lake City, has released an innovative, fun-to-use and FREE mobile application now available for download from iTunes, or through the App Store on your iPhone or iPod Touch. The new application is part of Intermountain's LiVe campaign which reaches out to parents and children about the importance of increasing physical activity and adopting healthier eating habits to prevent obesity.
The LiVe application:
- Makes it easier to set fitness and healthy eating goals;
- Guides users in tracking progress;
- Allows you to invite your friends to be part of LiVe;
- Links to entertaining and edgy LiVe public service commercials and posters;
- Provides fun suggestions based on LiVe's Eight Healthy Habits:
- Always eat breakfast
- Eat more fruits and vegetables
- Limit sweetened drinks
- Limit screen time
- Increase your physical activity
- Eat meals together as a family
- Be positive about food
- Don't criticize about weight
In addition to the new LiVe application, the innovative campaign includes social advertising, school presentations, educational materials for health providers and a kid-friendly website (www.intermountainlive.org).
