New Figures Reveal America's Top 10 Wealthiest and Poorest Cities

New figures show that the median household income within the United States has not changed during the year of 2012 to 2012 despite falling by 7% at the start of the recession. The U.S Census Bureau has released new statistics that show a similar pattern within the largest U.S cities, detailing the poorest and the wealthiest in contrast to one another.

"The figures collated by the U.S. Census Bureau show that income for the majority of the 366 metropolitan areas within the nation has remained totally unchanged in the best case scenarios and has dropped considerably in the worst. For example, all of the 10 poorest metropolitan areas now in fact have higher proportions of residents that live below the Federally defined poverty level. The national figure of Americans living in poverty is 15.9%. In Brownsville, Texas, the poverty rate is the highest in the nation at 36%."
